A Bit About Me
I hail from beautiful Hot Springs, Arkansas. While earning an undergraduate degree in the 90s, I announced my queerness to the world and began participating in activism working to expose and undo the effects of white supremacy and anti-queer, anti-trans, and anti-choice rhetoric and public policies. In the early 2000s, I moved to California and began working in a womyn-centered non-profit organization supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. This rich experience led directly to administrative work helping therapists meet the mental health needs of students. At the UC Davis Counseling Center, I met many amazing folks, including my forever partner, and continued integrating social justice in my career. Inspired by Ronald E. McNair and the McNair Scholars I worked with as they applied for graduate study, I completed a Master of Arts degree while working full time. In 2016, my partner and I moved to the fair city of Seattle and began employment at UW. Two years later, I left UW to care for a family member and then I joined the staff of Interconnections Healing Center in November, 2018. I enjoy TV and movies, feminist podcasts, discussing popular culture, and relaxing with my partner and our queer kitty, Moris.
