A Bit About Me

Hello! My name is Koji, and I am a 1.5-generation Japanese immigrant, being born in Japan and raised in the United States. This experience, as well as moving around in the U.S. and studying abroad in Korea, has shaped my multicultural lens and appreciation for different perspectives. I studied business at the undergraduate level and minored in education at Chapman University in Southern California. After working as a tax consultant in Los Angeles for two years, I realized that I wanted to help people more directly through my career, and chose to shift my career into psychology. I am currently studying psychology at the graduate level with a research focus on cross-cultural psychology and volunteering as a crisis line phone counselor. It is my goal in life to spread kindness with empathy and active listening.

As an extreme hobbyist, some of my many hobbies are: kendo (Japanese martial arts), photography, coffee, reading, video gaming, ukulele, and podcasting. How do I find the time to do it? That’s not a rhetorical question, please tell me the answer.
