We Are Interconnected

We co-exist with each other and with earth as a system. We are connected on many levels, big and small, through time and space and from one organism to another, from one generation to another.

  • Interconnections within us – Our bodies, minds, and hearts are three important channels through which we take in and make sense of information and experiences. They are interconnected, each impacting the other.  In therapy, that means we can take many routes of exploration to arrive at the same recurring themes, strengths, and struggles.
  • Interconnections between our past, present, and future Our past informs our present day thoughts, feelings, relationships, and decisions. Exploring our past can help us make more intentional and value congruent decisions in the present, which allows for a future that is more aligned with our hopes, vision, and values.
  • Interconnections between us as people There are many ways in which we are all connected. Our liberation is bound together, where nobody is free until we are all free from the systemic chains of oppression and domination. Community is the key to thriving and surviving, especially for members of oppressed groups. Regardless of group membership, however, relationships, connections, and a sense of belonging are all critical to health and wellbeing, a theme that will undoubtedly come up in therapy.
  • Interconnections with our ancestors – There are stories within us that have been passed down from over thousands of years. We have both stories of trauma embedded in our genetic makeup and sense of self but also phenomenal stories of strength and resilience. Therapy is a place that can be used to begin exploring these stories that make up a large part of who we are.

Mission

Welcome to Interconnections Healing Center. The mission of our practice is to provide:
(1) culturally responsive and high quality mental health services to clients, (2) social justice oriented supervision, training, and consultation to other mental health providers and organizations, and (3) trauma-informed equity and racial justice programming and consulting to organizations.

We all integrate an anti-oppression lens into our work and are committed to ongoing self-examination and professional education in service of providing inclusive, compassionate, and competent care that serves the needs of the community, especially those who are a part of underserved communities.

Values

Anti-Oppression – We examine the ways in which we as individuals and as an organization may be operating and providing services based on internalized systems of oppression and white supremacy and take active steps to challenge them as they come to light.

Inclusion – We strive to make our practice and space be inclusive to all, especially to those who so frequently feel marginalized in society at large, namely QTBIPOC (queer, trans, black, indigenous, and/or people of color) folx.

Community – We value being in community and believe that community is a pathway to healing and liberation for many, including ourselves. Indeed, we are all in group practice as a way of being in community with like-minded individuals.

Relational – We value relationships with others, with each other, and with our clients. We take good care to nurture these relationships with the highest level of integrity, transparency, and compassion.

We aim to provide all our clients a welcoming, affirming, accessible, and inclusive space. Our bathrooms are gender neutral and wheelchair accessible.

Interconnections Healing Center is a scent/fragrance free space. The chemicals used in scented products can make some people sick, especially those with fragrance or chemical sensitivities, asthma, allergies, and/or other respiratory ailments. We ask all who use our space to refrain from wearing chemicals such as perfumes, colognes, and scented hair and skin products.
