A Bit About Me
Hola and Welcome. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, I’m glad you’re here. I offer individual therapy for adolescents and adults. I intentionally welcome people of all identities, especially those who identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA* and folks who are seeking gender affirming care.
I’m originally from the warm desert lands of Mexico & Nevada. I’m a first generation graduate and self-identify as Latinx, Bicultural, Bi/Queer, and a Spiritual-Creative-Taurus. My family’s immigration history has significantly paved my path to educational privilege and it inspires me to support others who are navigating immigration & bicultural identity experiences. My commitment to this work is also influenced by my own healing journey and a genuine desire to support the collective healing of our community.
What I appreciate most about therapy work is the connection to stories, vulnerability, and self-exploration. Our identities are complex, beautiful, unique, and intersecting. Whatever your story is, I would be honored to support you and be witness to your journey as you heal, transform and reconnect with your inherent wisdom and resiliency.
Things that bring me joy: cinematography, plants, poetry, art (illustration, watercolor, drawing), sunsets, birds, astrology, ice-cream, and spiritual self-care practices.
I come from a cultural lineage that highly values the power of Storytelling. I strongly respect the process of storytelling, I believe it is a fundamental form of connection, exploration, and healing. I am a holistic and relational therapist, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship by intentionally and actively working on alignment and trust building. I believe healing is best supported when the “whole Self” is witnessed and balanced— including our mind, body, and connection to spirit/nature.
What you can expect in a session with me is warmth, gentleness, empathy, and strength-based reflections. I heavily weave storytelling and somatic awareness into sessions. I invite your cultural identities, wisdom and traditions to take up space in the room. I acknowledge that vulnerability and therapy can be unfamiliar and uncomfortable. I respect this experience and will collaborate with you to create a pace and therapeutic focus that feels supportive and helpful to you.
For those interested, I also make space for creative and nonverbal methods of processing, especially with topics related to trauma. This can be done through art making, writing/journaling, music, photography, visualizations, embodiment practices and more.
My approach to therapy is centered around anti-oppression, anti-racist, and anti-pathologizing values. Clinically, I consider myself a strength-based therapist who integrates the following modalities: Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT); Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT); Acceptance and commitment Therapy (ACT); and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
When appropriate, I also integrate the following interventions/tools: somatic work, family-systems and generational healing, inner-child work, mindfulness/grounding, visualizations, and expressive art processing.
